Highlights from US & Canadian Telco Events

The telecom industry is moving fast, and over the past few weeks, North America has been a true hub of innovation, collaboration, and new ideas. From Denver to Anchorage, and Toronto to Vancouver, Globema has been actively participating in telco gatherings. We’ve been sharing our expertise, connecting with industry peers, and helping shape the conversation around broadband connectivity.

Here’s a look at the highlights of where we’ve been recently, and a preview of what’s still to come.

Regional Fiber Connect – Anchorage, AK

Date: July 17, 2025
Location: Anchorage, Alaska

In the middle of July, we traveled north to Anchorage, Alaska, where Bill Scheffler, our Technology and Project Consultant, represented Globema at the Regional Fiber Connect, hosted by the Fiber Broadband Association. This event focused on bridging the gap between fiber and fixed wireless, particularly critical for rural and remote communities where access to reliable broadband can be a real game changer.

Bill had the opportunity to engage with representatives from leading providers, including GCI, Alaska Communications, Copper Valley Telecom, Matanuska Telecom, Fastwyre Broadband (TelAlaska), as well as Tribal community leaders. The message was clear: building robust, scalable fiber networks remains the backbone of future-proof connectivity.

At Globema, we were proud to share how our geospatial solutions and AI/ML-powered digital twins can accelerate broadband expansion in even the most challenging terrains.

Mountain Connect 2025 – Denver, CO

Date: August 4–6, 2025
Location: Denver, Colorado

A few weeks later, our Americas Business Leader, Joel Swanson, represented Globema at Mountain Connect, one of the most important broadband development events in the western US. The conference gathered over 60 vendors and nearly 1,000 broadband innovators, technology providers, and community leaders—all dedicated to advancing telecommunications infrastructure.

The conference focused on smaller operators and the ongoing rollout of the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program, a federal initiative aimed at closing the digital divide. Sessions explored the progress made so far, the challenges encountered during deployment, and ways to streamline processes.

For Globema, the event was an opportunity to demonstrate how our network planning and inventory solutions can help operators design and manage infrastructure more efficiently, unlocking real growth in underserved areas.

Regional Fiber Connect – Toronto, ON

Date: August 19, 2025
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Shortly after Denver, we traveled back north to Canada. Joel and Ian Oliver, Technology & Project Consultant, joined industry providers, vendors, and innovators at the Regional Fiber Connect in Toronto.

At our table, visitors could explore how Globema’s solutions, supporting FTTx & HFC Network Design Automation, Network Inventory, and building Network Digital Twins, help providers accelerate planning and operations while keeping an eye on affordability, sustainability, and deployment speed. The lively conversations confirmed what we already know: fiber is the foundation of connected communities.

Extra note: The day before the conference (August 18), Ian Oliver co-chaired the inaugural strategy session of the FBA Canada Working Group, a new initiative within the Fiber Broadband Association. With over 80 members, this group is focused on strengthening the fiber broadband ecosystem in Canada. It’s an honor for Globema to help lead such an impactful industry effort.

Date: September 15–17, 2025
Location: Victoria, British Columbia

The next stop on our journey will be CCSA Connect 2025 in Vancouver, a gathering of Canadian telecom operators, technology experts, and broadband advocates. Ian Oliver will represent Globema at this tabletop exhibit, showcasing our geospatial solutions designed to simplify network complexity and speed up broadband rollouts.

If you’re attending, don’t miss the opportunity to meet Ian and learn firsthand how our tools can support your organization’s growth!
