FME 2025.2 marks the next step toward creating data integration processes that are more intuitive, secure, and better connected.

This update focuses primarily on user experience (UX) and enhancements that allow you to build and manage complex workflows with significantly less effort. Read on for the details.

1. Microsoft Fabric and Delta Lake support – connect directly to modern data warehouses

FME 2025.2 introduces Readers for Microsoft Fabric (OneLake/Lakehouse) and Delta Lake. If your organization relies on a modern data stack, you can now pull data directly from these environments without having to build complex workarounds. Additionally, a new Writer for the IFC format and improved Excel support (including proper table management) make formatting and exporting structured data much easier.

2. System browser authentication – simplify IT compliance and forget about login issues

One of the most significant changes in FME 2025.2 is the shift to external browser authentication. Instead of relying on a built-in (and often limited) browser for OAuth2 or SAML logins, FME now uses your default system browser. This aligns with the latest security standards from Microsoft, Google, and Esri. In practice, this means more stable connections and an end to errors caused by outdated, incompatible browser engines.

3. A “Less Is More” workspace design – declutter your workflows and simplify onboarding for new users

FME Form has received a series of enhancements designed to tidy up the workspace:

Optional input ports – Selected transformers (such as the AttributeCreator or HTTPCaller) can now be triggered without needing to connect a Creator transformer first.

Relocation of the Coordinate System parameter – To streamline the main interface, this Parameter has been moved to the Parameters dialog box. As a result, the workspace is much cleaner and easier to read, especially for users who work exclusively with non-spatial data.

5. Dynamic parameter pre-loading – build smart apps that minimize user errors

The Parameter Pre-Loading feature will especially appeal to those building FME Flow Apps. You can now dynamically fetch parameter values from external URLs, JSON files, or other FME workflows before the user even sees the form. This paves the way for highly personalized, “smart” apps that seamlessly adapt to the user’s context. Ultimately, this makes your tools much more intuitive and user-friendly.

6. Improved accessibility and UI communication – focus on your data with an intuitive, distraction-free interface

Safe Software has updated the FME Form interface in line with accessibility best practices. For example, instead of flashing an entire field red for every error, FME 2025.2 uses a subtle red border that only appears after invalid data is entered.

Required fields are now clearly marked with an asterisk, and panel names have been updated to be more descriptive (e.g., “Visual Preview” is now “Data Preview”). These thoughtful tweaks make navigation a breeze for both new and experienced users.
