By February 18, 2016April 12th, 2016Energy, Services, Smallworld, Smart Grid

Globema delivered new Smallworld licenses and will expand EL.GIS system at RWE Stoen Operator (Polish energy Distribution System Operator). In the first stage of the project Globema will upgrade EL.GIS from Smallworld version 3.1 to 4.3. EL.GIS has been used by RWE since 1998, long before Smallworld Electric Office was introduced. The upgraded solution will support over 350 users in everyday operations.

About RWE Stoen Operator

RWE Stoen operates Warsaw energy distribution system. The company provides energy to 964 000 customers in Warsaw metropolitan area. As a result of Warsaw metropolitan area growth, RWE Stoen distribution network is being constantly expanded and enhanced. Currently, the network consists of:

  • Power lines:

220 kV lines (EHV)
– overhead: 8km (double-circuit, with one circuit operating on 110 kV voltage)
110 kV lines (HV)
– overhead: 386 km (per circuit)
– underground: 92 km
15 kV lines (MV)
– overhead: 294 km
– underground: 6998 km
0,4 kV lines (LV)
– overhead: 1334 km (without service lines)
– underground: 5324 km (without service lines)

  • Substations with operating voltage up to:

220 kV: 1
110 kV: 38
15 kV: 6176

Scope of the project

Before the implementation Globema team will conduct technical analyses of RWE business processes supported by the system in order to streamline system upgrade and implementation of new RWE-specific features.

Globema will also deliver Smallworld Core, Network Viewer, Smallworld GeoSpatial Analysis (business intelligence solution) and Smallworld GeoSpatial Server (platform for system integration and business process integration for Smallworld into the SOA based enterprise) licenses.

The implementation consists of 7 stages. In the last stage specialized trainings will be conducted (both for engineers & IT specialists and business consultants). Delivered solution will come with full technical support.

El.GIS – network assets management for energy

EL.GIS system, developed by Globema and based on the GE Smallworld platform, supports key business processes of DNOs’ (Distribution Network Operators) & DSOs (Distribution System Operators), such as planning and accomplishing new grid investments, re-developing, planning and maintaining operations, as well as managing outages and unexpected situations. EL.GIS also helps optimizing network maintenance costs and increases general network efficiency.
