Needs for a more advanced GIS system are increasing with the development of a company. Unfortunately, it is often necessary to reconstruct the whole production environment. The decision to purchase new hardware architecture is only the first little step at the beginning of this complex journey. One of its essential elements is to move the existing environment to the new infrastructure and ensure safety by eliminating risk of data loss or delays in access to the system. Recently, one of the largest district heating companies in Poland WPEC Legnica faced such challenge.
WPEC Legnica decided to exchange the server on which Globema Smallworld DH.GIS system was installed and asked us for a helping hand. The main goal of the project was to boost system performance and security of stored data while ensuring the comfort of all users.
First, our team had to prepare a detailed analysis of the hardware recommendations, considering current and future needs of the company. The project was even more complicated than usual due to the ongoing process of extending EC.GIS system user base with Energetyka company (owned by WPEC). This process was associated with expansion of the database and increase in the number of users.

Our team will also perform EC.GIS system migration to the new hardware platform with the configuration of all solution components.
