In October 2012 Globema actively participated in the meeting of the PT TRIS working group. The group is a part of the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC). The ECC brings together 48 countries to develop common policies and regulations in electronic communications and related applications for Europe. The meeting took place in Wroclaw and was organised by the Polish Office of Electronic Communications.

Globema’s support included participation in the discussion about mapping of network infrastructure by telecom regulators in Europe and the scope of mandatory reports from telecom operators.

Tomasz Gondzio gave a presentation “The role of Network Inventory System in efficient reporting to the Regulatory Office”, which covered a variety tools used by telecom operators for inventory of network, supporting infrastructure and services. Automatic report generation, made possible by the use of Smallworld Network Inventory & Globema’s enhancements, significantly accelerates the exchange of information between the operator and the regulator.

In the second part of the lecture, the leading IT technologies, which enable the presentation of geospatial data from multiple sources (in this case, various operators) in an affordable and efficient way were discussed. An example of using Google Maps For Business was presented.

In addition to mapping of network infrastructure by telecom regulators, the meeting also focused on issues related to verifying the quality of internet access services for residential users and the location of emergency calls from IP networks (VoIP).
